Dragoman's Secret

  1. DRAGOMAN'S SECRET - This drawing is one of 7 story illustrations I did for a forthcoming book titled, "The Adventures of Dragoman" by Otis Adelbert Kline. It illustrated the story, "Dragon's Secret". The book was never published.

Regarding rejection, here is another sad tale of an unknown writer who wrote a great novel in the 1960s that was rejected by every publisher he sent it to. Perhaps that's why he committed suicide in 1969.

But his mother did not give up on him, she kept trying and trying to get her son's book published, and in 1980 she finally succeeded. The book is, "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole. It won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction, and is now considered a classic.

How odd, the title of the book seems to fit the publisher's who rejected it . . .
